Rep. Bennie Thompson files civil lawsuit against Trump, Giuliani, and two far-right groups

Representative Bennie Thompson (D-MS) filed a civil lawsuit against former President Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and two far-right groups yesterday. The lawsuit (backed by the NAACP) alleges that the plaintiffs conspired to incite the January attack on the US Capitol, thereby preventing Congress from carrying out its official duties. The lawsuit follows Trump’s acquittal in the Senate impeachment trial on Saturday.
