Arkansas lawmakers override veto, approve transgender youth bill

Arkansas lawmakers voted to override the governor’s veto of a bill that bars doctors from providing certain types of care to transgender youth. The new legislation makes Arkansas the first state to ban certain types of transgender treatments (e.g. hormone therapy and surgery) for people under the age of 18. At least 16 other states are considering similar legislation.
