Interior Department suspends oil and gas leases in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

The US Department of Interior suspended oil and gas leases in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge yesterday, pending new environmental review. The Interior Department order follows a temporary moratorium on oil and gas lease activities imposed by President Biden on his first day in office and effectively reverses a drilling program approved under the Trump administration.
