Amazon announces acquisition of podcasting platform Wondery

Amazon announced plans to acquire podcasting company Wondery in a deal reportedly valued at ~$300M. Wondery, which produces popular podcasts including Dirty John and Dr. Death, will join Amazon Music (the company’s streaming platform). The acquisition comes amid rapidly growing competition in the podcasting segment, including several large acquisitions made by streaming company Spotify in the last 12 months.
