Amazon announced the launch of a biometric payment system that will allow customers to pay in stores using the palm of their hand. “Amazon One” captures a variety of biometric details (e.g. the lines and ridges on someone’s palm) to create a “palm signature” that can be used to uniquely identify a customer. The technology will initially be available in select Amazon Go stores, and the company is in “active discussions” with several other potential customers.
