At least 45 people were killed in a stampede at a religious festival in Israel. The festival (celebrating Lag BaOmer) was held at Mount Meron in northern Israel, where an estimated 100k people had gathered. The stampede reportedly began when a large number of people crowded through a narrow passage, causing people to begin falling on top of each other. Rescue efforts are ongoing.
